We worked closely with our client to balance their desire for a living room designed with modern and British Colonial style. One aspect of the British Colonial design aesthetic is the look of a well traveled life. We created that look with a worldly mix of Moroccan, French and American modern styles harmoniously blended to feel as though the room has evolved over time. At the very top of our client's wishlist was the addition of a gas fireplace. The fireplace felt like a necessity for those long Colorado winters and to create an impactful focal point and symmetry in the room. We covered the fireplace in venetian plaster for global-inspired warmth. We continued the element of symmetry centering a French-inspired lounge sofa in front of the windows, called a tête-à-tête, which was originally designed to allow for conversation between two people. In this living room, the tête-à-tête allows for both conversational seating and restful views out to the private garden. The bold, paprika shade is the visual karate chop the room needed and is echoed in the French architectural poster on the wall, mohair throw on the sofa and floor basket.
